World Science Day for Peace and Development

World Science Day for Peace and Development, which is observed annually on November 10th, emphasises the value and relevance of science in modern society.

The goal of the World Science Day for Peace and Development is to keep the public updated on scientific advancements. It also highlights the important role scientists play in deepening our understanding of the amazing, vulnerable planet we call home and improving the sustainability of our societies.

How do basic sciences contribute to sustainable development?

Curiosity is what drives basic research. Basic research, also referred to as discovery research because it places more of an emphasis on knowledge acquisition than on practical applications for businesses, has produced innovations that have given rise to new scientific disciplines, including genomics, in addition to new technologies. Even by accident, some of these discoveries were made!

With this page link you will find examples of the many ways in which basic research is paving the way to sustainable development as well as a photo exhibition and videos too.
