Pro Arte se 2de wêreldkampioen in 2 jaar

Angelique Gunn, old dance learner of Pro Arte Alphen Park, and currently Technology and Arts and Culture teacher at the school, has successfully trained her second dance junior world champion.

Angie and her own Just Dance Studio team have just arrived back from Germany where the world championships were held.

Says Angie: "The World Showdance championships were held this year in Riesa Germany, I am so proud to return back to South Africa for the second time as the coach of the Junior male World Champion. In 2007 Donovan Bredenhann (a student at Pro Arte Alphen Park) won the solo male section and this year Robert van den Aardweg (a new grade 8 student at Pro Arte Alphen Park) won the male solo section.

This Year Donovan was placed 10th in the Adult male solo section, 13th in the duo section with his partner Chante Groenewald who was placed 7th in the female Junior solo section. Donovan, Bianca van der linde, Marni kruger, Lize grobler, Donne Conradie and Chimooneh Brand (Students from Hoërskool Zwartkop) were placed 12th in the small group section. Finally the world champion Robert and his duo partner Miche placed 11th in their duo section, A great way to end the year with such high achievements."

Just dance Studio's have made many finals and placed 1st and 2nd in most of South Africa's provincial qualifying rounds this year, due to there excellent results they qualified to compete in the Jazz World Championships in Canada earlier on in this year and now again this November in Riesa Germany for the Showdance World Championships. Provincials started in the Superbowl at Sun City's Battle of the giants which was held in March where all the Just dance students made finals and went home with medals, Sun City was followed by the Bloemfontein provincial round held in June where the 12-15 formation team and small group took the gold medals, the 16 and over small group also took the gold as well as top placings in the duo and solo sections. Stars of Tomorrow is the last and final qualifying competition for the year where the studio did exceptionally well taking gold was 14 year old Chante Groenewald and Robert van Aardweg taking silver for the 12-15 solo sections, The 12-15 jazz and showdance small group took the gold again therefore qualifying in first place to compete at the World Championships. The 16 and over Adults took silver for all the sections; formation, small group, duo and Donovan Bredenhann for the male solo section. As a result every single just dance student qualified to represent South Africa at the Showdance World Championships.

12-15 year old students who qualified to compete at the World Championships in Germany; Amanda Strydom, Andrea van der vegte, Angelique Izandri Williams, Carmen Elizabeth Simpson, Chante Groenewald, Charlotte Bredenhann,, Chrescenda van der Mere, Deidre' Engelbrecht, Edele O'Neill, Gabrielle Leong, Ilke-Lume' Lombard, Julienza de Villiers, Karla Stonehouse, Lee-ann Human, Lu-Mandie Mostert, Melishe' Swart, Mikyla Lauren Eskelsen, Monica-lee Nortier, Natasha Sanders, Chloe Bothma, Sarah Brewer.

16 years and over students who qualified to compete at the World Championships in Germany; Alice Van Biljon, Aletia Bredenhann, Bianca Potgieter, Candice Van Rensburg, Chimooneh Brand, Donne' Conradie, Donovan Bredenhann, Inamari Pienaar, Joy Meyer, Livia van Rensburg, Lize Grobler, Marietjie Pretorius, Marni Kruger, Mignon Van Zyl, Natalie Esquino, Ramona Rabe, Robyn Keyser, Salome' Burger, Tamarine leong, Thandeka Xaba, Tegan Botha, Bianca van der Linda.

Coach Angelique Gunn is very proud of the studios results "I couldn't have asked for more, I want every student who dances with me to have the opportunity to perform and enjoy dancing as much as I do. When my entire studio even the weaker dancers qualify to compete in the Worlds I believe I have done my job well. Now I am looking forward to the opening of a new branch at Cornwall Hill College and also am in great anticipation for the next World championships hoping that more of my students will return as World Champions.
